Voter Registration Deadline Today

Today is the deadline to register to vote in order to be eligible to vote in next month’s special election on approving or denying a renewal of the Stephens County school system’s E-SPLOST.

Anyone who is not registered to vote must to do so by 5 p.m. today in order to be able to vote in the election next month.

People can register to vote by contacting the Stephens County Registrar’s Office.

That office is located in the historic Stephens County Courthouse Annex on Tugalo Street in downtown Toccoa.

Voters in Stephens County are heading to the polls on March 21 to determine whether or not to continue to one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for Education.

Stephens County school system officials say that if the tax is renewed by voters, it will be used for maintenance needs throughout the school system.

Early voting for the E-SPLOST special election will start on Monday, February 27 at the Registrar’s Office and continue through Friday, March 17.
