Victims ID’d In Habersham Plane Crash

Reports indicate that the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the three men killed in a single-engine plane crash in Baldwin early Thursday.

According to accessnorthga.com, authorities identified the pilot as 58-year-old James Thomas Lycett of Port St. Lucie, Florida, who also reportedly owned a home in Clarkesville.

Accessnorthga.com said that also in the plane was Lycett’s employee, 48-year-old Steven Matthew Wisor of Fort Pierce, Florida and Wisor’s cousin, 45-year-old Edward Leslie Black of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Two dogs were also killed in the plane crash, according to the accessnorthga.com report.

The crash occurred just after midnight Thursday when the plane went down in a wooded area near a trailer park not far from the Habersham County Airport.

Neighbors heard the plane fall.

“It could have been a lot more scary if it had hit somebody’s house, including ours,” said one neighbor.

“There’s children in each of those trailers,” said another nearby resident.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
