U.S. Census Bureau Estimates Drop in Stephens Co. Population

Numbers released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau estimate a drop in Stephens County’s population.

Last week, the Census Bureau put out its July 1, 2014 population estimates.

The Census Bureau estimated that Stephens County had a population of 25,480 as of July 1, 2014.

That number represents a drop of 115 people from the July 1, 2013 population estimate of 25,595.

Stephens County has seen its Census Bureau population estimate drop going back each year to the April 1, 2010 census figure of 26,175.

Looking at other area counties, Banks County also saw its population estimate drop slightly, while Franklin and Habersham counties each saw increases in their population estimates.

Banks County had a population estimate of 18,295 on July 1, 2014, down by 30 from the July 1, 2013 estimate.

Franklin County’s July 1, 2014 population estimate was 22,264, up by 220 from July 1, 2013.

Habersham County’s population estimate as of July 1, 2014 was 43,752, up by 458 from its July 1, 2013 estimate.
