Two Arrested After Drug Investigation

A drug investigation in Stephens County leads to two arrests.

Stephens County Sheriff Randy Shirley announced this week that 34-year-old Joshua Louis Starrett of Toccoa had been arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, while 32-year-old Brian Keith Fowler of Lavonia was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule 3 Narcotic.

The sheriff said the arrest came after authorities began looking into suspected drug activities at a home on Brookhaven Circle.

“As a result of our contacts and through intelligence, we were able to work with the Clarke County drug task force in this,” said Shirley. “Mr. Starrett was actually arrested with the methamphetamine, quite a large amount, 10 ounces of methamphetamine, in ‘ice’ form.”

Shirley said that following Starrett’s arrest, authorities then served a search warrant at Starrett’s residence on Brookhaven Circle.

“Later on that evening, we searched his house on Brookhaven Circle and recovered some firearms and also recovered some more illegal drugs,” said Shirley.

The sheriff said that Fowler was arrested and charged following the execution of that search warrant.

According to Sheriff Shirley, Fowler was staying at the residence.

Shirley said that this case is an example of what can happen when law enforcement agencies throughout the region work together.

“We got 10 ounces of methamphetamine off the streets of Toccoa and that makes our community safer and this is a great example of what happens when we can come together, share information, and pool resources,” said Shirley.
