Truett McConnell Nursing Program Receives Accreditation

Truett McConnell University’s Division of Nursing is now fully accredited.

Earlier this month, the school received notice that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education granted full accreditation for the nursing program at Truett-McConnell.

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, CCNE is a national accreditation agency that ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

Truett-McConnell said this commission also supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and supports continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education and nurse residency programs.

The school’s nursing division chair, Celeste Dunnington, said the additional accreditation will open doors for existing students and help bring in more faculty and prospective students to the campus.

Dunnington said it also will benefit nursing students to be admitted into graduate programs because some institutions require that applicants be graduates of a nationally accredited nursing program.

She said the accreditation has been a team effort and words cannot begin to express her gratitude to all that have assisted.

Truett McConnell officials said that in addition to the accreditation, the school’s nursing division also received a grant that funded a new female simulation mannequin and will help furnish the future expansion of lab space.

According to school officials, these advancements will provide excellent training and knowledge for students preparing to enter the nursing field.
