Trial Ends in Hung Jury

April 4, 2013

A trial this week in Stephens County Superior Court ends with a hung jury.

Court officials indicate that the trial of Michael Dennis Savard of Toccoa on a charge of aggravated assault ended in a hung jury.

Savard faced charges in connection to a March 2012 incident at Rite Aid on Big A Road in Toccoa.

Authorities alleged that a subject identified as Savard walked into the store on the evening of March 2, 2012 and pulled a knife on a store clerk in the back, holding the knife to her throat.

Police said the clerk was not injured and nothing was taken from the store, nor was anyone else threatened.

Prosecutors said they plan to re-try the case.
