A man escapes serious injury when a tree falls on his truck and causes him to lose control while driving in Stephens County Wednesday.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident happened on U.S. Highway 123 between Toccoa and South Carolina on Wednesday just before 6 p.m.
The GSP’s Toccoa post reported that 62-year-old Larry Cleofus Atkins of Cornelia was driving a 2001 Mack truck owned by Fieldale north on Highway 123 when a tree fell and hit the truck’s cab.
Authorities stated that the truck then lost control and traveled down an embankment and struck a fence before overturning onto its side and coming to rest.
According to the GSP, Atkins reported minor upper extremity injuries, but was not transported to a hospital.
No citations were written as a result of the incident, according to the report.
