Totals Are in for “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive

May 20, 2013

The totals are in for this year’s “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive in Stephens County.

Stephens County Food Bank President Al Vulcano said more than 11,700 pounds of food was collected by letter carriers in Stephens County through the May 11 drive for the food bank.

That is more than the 10,500 pounds of food raised in 2012.

The “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive is a national effort that has raised over 1 billion pounds of food nationally since it started in 1993.

Vulcano and local letter carriers thank the community for its support in donating non-perishable food items to the drive.

In addition, Vulcano said he thanks the letter carriers for their support, along with the Food Bank volunteers and others including First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Ebenezer Baptist Church, First Alliance Church, and the Toccoa Pilot Club.
