Toccoa Votes to Extend Pool Agreement

Camp Fire Georgia will continue to operate the Doyle Street Pool for the city of Toccoa for the next several years.

Monday, the Toccoa City Commission voted unanimously to approve a three-year agreement for Camp Fire Georgia to operate the city pool, extending what had been a yearly agreement between the two parties.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said he feels like this is a good arrangement for the city.

“In my opinion, the partnership has worked very well and would recommend that you continue that partnership,” said Morse.

Morse said that the funding levels from the city would remain the same in the agreement moving forward.

According to the agreement between the two sides, the city provides $25,000 to Camp Fire Georgia for management of the pool, along with providing utilities like water, trash collection, electricity, and pool chemicals.

There were no changes proposed to the agreement between the two sides from the 2016 agreement prior to the city commission’s adoption.

Approving a three-year agreement extends the partnership between the city and Camp Fire through the 2019 summer season.

Camp Fire Georgia has operated the Doyle Street Pool for the city of Toccoa since the city re-opened the pool in the Summer of 2014.

In other news from the city of Toccoa on Monday, the commission unanimously appointed Marilyn Hall, owner of the Urban Barn in downtown Toccoa, to fill the unexpired term of Pam Keener on the city’s Downtown Development Authority.

Finally, Toccoa Mayor Jeanette Jamieson appointed Terry Carter to serve as Liaison between the City Commission and the Historic Preservation Commission after the HPC recommended that the commission add a liaison to their board.
