Toccoa Unveiling Fire Training Facility Today

The city of Toccoa will unveil its new fire training facility at an event later today.

This afternoon, the city will hold a ribbon cutting and open house for its new Toccoa Fire Training Facility at Alewine Park.

Today’s event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. at Alewine Park on Alewine Drive in Toccoa.

The public is invited to attend and tour the new burn building.

Also, there will be refreshments and the public can take pictures with the firemen and fire trucks, while there is a giveaway for the first 200 attendees.

Meanwhile, Toccoa City Commissioners will also hold a regularly scheduled meeting later today.

That meeting will start at 5 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

During today’s meeting, Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to vote to officially lift the burn ban that Stephens County Commissioners rescinded last week.

Also, the city commission is expected to receive the monthly financial report for December at today’s meeting and approve a host of Fiscal Year 2016 budget amendments.

Today’s 5 p.m. Toccoa City Commission meeting is open to the public.
