Toccoa Rookie League Teams Advance

Both Toccoa Rookie League All-Star teams will advance in tournament play after finishing second in their respective district tournaments.

The district Rookie League Baseball and Softball tournaments wrapped up over the weekend in Rabun County.

In Rookie League Softball, Toccoa finished second place to champion Hart County.

Toccoa’s Rookie League Softball All-Stars started the tournament with a 12-2 win over Franklin County and a 9-7 win over Habersham County to advance to the championship finals.

In the finals, Toccoa lost twice to Hart County, dropping the first game 7-6 and the second game 13-3.

Moving to Rookie League Baseball, Toccoa started its tournament with a 9-6 win over Habersham County and a 12-6 win over Hart County to advance to the finals, where it faced a re-match with Habersham.

In the finals, Habersham defeated Toccoa twice. In the first game, Habersham beat Toccoa 8-3 and in the second game, it was Habersham beating Toccoa 11-1.

With their second place finishes, both teams continue All-Star play.

The Toccoa Rookie League Baseball All-Stars will compete in the sectional tournament in Athens starting on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Toccoa Rookie League Softball All-Stars will play in the state tournament later this month in Warner Robins.
