Toccoa Puts Out First Copy of Proposed FY 17 Budget

The initial proposed Fiscal Year 2017 budget that Toccoa City Commissioners will look at during a budget work session next week calls for no change in the property tax millage rate or utility rates and user fees for the city.

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse presented commissioners with his initial proposed budget this week.

That budget is proposed to be $35,285,465.

That would represent a decrease of $892,521 from the Fiscal Year 2016 budget.

Morse said this decrease would be in large part due to the reduced cost to purchase natural gas.

In his proposed budget summary to city commissioners, Morse said that along with keeping the property tax millage rate, utility rates, and user fees the same, the initial proposed Fiscal Year 2017 budget would add over $400,000 to the city’s Reserve Accounts and it also proposes a three percent salary increase for all departments.

Along with that, Morse said his initial proposed budget includes health insurance funds in every department should rate increases occur in Fiscal Year 2017.

Toccoa City Commissioners are set to discuss the Fiscal Year 2017 budget at a work session next Wednesday.
