Toccoa Police Release Details on Sunday Wreck

Toccoa Police said a wreck last weekend left two people injured.

It occurred at about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Georgia Highway 145 and Collier Road.

According to the report released by Toccoa Police, a 2011 Ford Ranger driven by Dwayne Harlan Garmon of Toccoa was traveling east on Collier Extension while a 1999 Isuzu Amigo driven by Jeremiah Gabriel Allison of Eastanollee was headed southbound on Highway 145.

Police said Garmon’s vehicle did not yield at the stop sign of the roadways and upon entering Highway 145, it struck the passenger side front of Allison’s vehicle as it was attempting to evade the collision by swerving into the other lane.

The report said that upon impact, some portion of the Isuzu was brought into contact with the asphalt, likely the driver side front bumper, pivoted on this point, became airborne and landed on its top.

Meanwhile, the Ranger ended up off the roadway, with the front of the truck over an embankment at the railroad track.

According to police, a passenger in the Ranger, Patsy Simmons Garmon of Toccoa, was taken to Stephens County Hospital, while a passenger in the Isuzu, Haley S. Lowman of Toccoa, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Police said Garmon was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
