A Toccoa Wal-Mart employee faces multiple charges after he is accused of stealing from the store.

Toccoa Police Department Chief Tim Jarrell said that Wal-Mart officials requested that police initiate an investigation at the store.

According to Jarrell, the investigation led to the arrest of 31-year-old Darren Michael Gomez of Toccoa on eight counts of theft by taking.

Jarrell said that the alleged thefts occurred while Gomez was working at the Wal-Mart on Big A Road.

He went on to say that following Gomez’s arrest, Toccoa Police Detective Shannon Westbrook was able to track down and recover TV’s, computer equipment, electronics, furniture, appliances, video games, movies, and other items valued at about $5,600.

The investigation into the case is ongoing and Jarrell said that the possibility exists for more arrests in connection to the investigation.
