Toccoa Police Arrest Three on Drug Charges

Three people face charges after a call to police leads to a search warrant at a Toccoa residence.

Toccoa Police Chief Tim Jarrell says officers were called to an Argo Street residence just before 3:30 a.m. Monday about a fight in progress.

According to Jarrell, that led to a search warrant at the residence.

“A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of suspected Oxycodone, MDMA or Ecstasy, bags of suspected marijuana, bags of suspected powdered cocaine and crack cocaine,” said Jarrell.

He said in addition to the drugs, police also found a .22 rifle with 100 rounds of ammunition with $807 in cash and items associated with the packaging and selling of illegal drugs.

Police identified the three people arrested as 27-year-old Evstavious Dequa Smith, 28-year-old Tyqeizz Fre’shun Banks, and 19-year-old Lindsey Camille Jones.

All three are charged with Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.

Banks and Jones are also charged with Obstruction of an Officer and Banks faces an additional charge of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

Jarrell says all three suspects were taken to Stephens County Jail for processing.

He says the investigation is ongoing and police hope to make additional arrests in connection to this case.
