Toccoa Man Pleads Guilty In Fatal 2012 Motorcycle Wreck

A Toccoa man pleads guilty in connection to a 2012 fatal motorcycle crash in Stephens County.

34-year-old Joshua Lamar Hanley entered a guilty plea in front of Judge Chan Caudell in Stephens County Superior Court on Monday.

Hanley pleaded guilty to one count of Homicide by Vehicle in the First Degree in connection with the death of Lisa Childs Terrell in an August 2012 motorcycle accident.

The Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol said Terrell was a passenger on a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Hanley when the motorcycle wrecked on Dean Road in Stephens County.

Meanwhile, Hanley also pleaded guilty to other charges in connection to separate incidents in Stephens and Habersham counties.

Those charges include two counts of Fleeing and Eluding an Officer, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of a Firearm by a First Offender Felon.

He was on first offender probation at the time of these charges in connection to previous Aggravated Assault and Aggravated Battery charges in Stephens County.

In all, Hanley was sentenced to 15 years in prison and an additional five years probation. He must also undergo drug counseling while in prison.
