More information is out about an accident over the weekend that took the life of a University of Georgia student from Toccoa.

20-year-old Dylan Cane Parker of Toccoa was killed in a single-car accident early Sunday morning in OglethorpeCounty, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The GSP reported that Parker was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by 22-year-old Brandon Ray Brooks of Royston.

Authorities said that Brooks’ 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling west on Georgia Highway 10 in OglethorpeCounty at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

According to authorities, Brooks’ vehicle was negotiating a curve and traveling too fast for conditions when it left the roadway, struck a tree with its right front, and rotated on to its roof.

Neither Parker or Brooks were wearing seat belts.

The GSP reported that Brooks was not injured.

Authorities said that the GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the accident and add that charges are pending.

Funeral services for Parker will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Toccoa.
