Toccoa Drops Two Games in L.L. Tourneys at Hartwell

It was a Hart County sweep Monday night in Little League District 7 play in Hartwell.

In the 11-12 Little League baseball winner’s bracket game, Toccoa jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind a first inning, two-run home run by Carson Worley.

Then, Hart County came storming back with five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-4 lead.

Toccoa tied the game in the bottom of the third with three straight singles by Will Keener, Rob Fulbright, and Landon Kimsey, but Hart scored five more runs in the fourth inning, including a three-run homer by Paul Davis and went on for an 11-5 victory.

The win places Hart in the district finals against the winner of a game tonight in the elimination bracket between Toccoa and Franklin.

Moving to the Junior League baseball elimination game, Hart led Toccoa 13-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but Toccoa rallied for eight runs in the sixth and had the tying run at third in the seventh before falling, 13-12.

With the loss, Toccoa is eliminated from the tournament.

Hart faces Franklin in the finals starting tonight. Franklin needs only one win, while Hart has to beat Franklin twice.

The new 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG will broadcast tonight’s Toccoa vs. Franklin 11-12 game from Hartwell.

Air time is 6:45 p.m. with first pitch at 7 p.m.
