Toccoa Costume Parade Set for This Morning

An annual Halloween tradition resumes today in downtown Toccoa.

The 26th annual Toccoa Main Street Children’s Costume Parade will line up and head out this morning.

Toccoa Main Street Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that the parade will begin at 10 a.m. and children will begin lining up at 9:45 a.m.

“We will be lining up on the corner of Alexander Street and Doyle Street, right across the street from First Citizens Bank downtown,” said Crosby. “We will have two lines for the children to go through.”

Prizes will be awarded in various categories for ages 2 and below, 3, and 4 and above. For those wanting their costumes to be judged, parents or guardians will fill out a form with the child’s name, age, and contact information clearly marked to help the judges. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and winners are announced at the conclusion of the parade.

There will be a second line for the costume parade for those children who are not having their costumes judged.

Crosby said the parade will then follow the same route as it has in years past.

She said the city is looking forward to a good time.

“It is such a fun event,” said Crosby. “It is one that has really grown over the last several years. We see families coming together.”

The new 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG will be broadcasting updates from the costume parade starting later this morning.
