Toccoa Conducting Hydrant Flushing

October 4, 2013

Hydrant flushing is taking place throughout this month in the city of Toccoa.

Starting this past Sunday, the city of Toccoa’s Water Department began opening fire hydrants throughout the system overnight.

According to city officials, this “free-flow” operation flushes out possible sediment build-up and harmless impurities.

City officials go on to say that as a result of hydrant flushing, water customers may experience turbid water and perhaps a temporary reduction in water pressure.

The city is conducting the hydrant flushing between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. in order to minimize inconvenience.

Hydrant flushing in the Toccoa water system will continue through October 25.
