The Toccoa City Commission could award a bid for a street re-surfacing project in the city at its meeting later today.
Toccoa City Commissioners are scheduled to consider a bid awarding for the re-surfacing of about 25 city streets at their meeting today, which starts at 4 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.
The 4 p.m. start time for the city commission meeting is earlier than the commission’s normal start time.
Toccoa is planning to re-surface the streets later this year and use funds from both SPLOST V and the Georgia Department of Transportation to pay for the work.
Two companies submitted bids for the project.
They are C.W. Matthews of Marietta, who bid $942,665.44 and Blount Construction of Marietta, who bid $1,148,865.14.
Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse said both bids came in close to what the city’s engineering firm on the project had estimated.
According to Morse, that estimate was $984,633.07.
Also at today’s meeting, Toccoa City Commissioners are scheduled to receive a report from Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin.
Following the 4 p.m. regular commission meeting, city commissioners are scheduled to hold a work session to discuss a number of different topics.
That work session is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Both the meeting and the work session are open to the public.
