Toccoa Commission, Staff Holds Planning Retreat

Toccoa City Manager Billy Morse says he thought this week’s city planning retreat went very well.

City commissioners, Morse, and city department heads met for the retreat Monday afternoon at the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room in downtown Toccoa.

Morse said he felt the retreat accomplished quite a bit.

“I felt we had a very productive and a very orderly and businesslike planning meeting,” said Morse. “We first started out by quickly reviewing some accomplishments from last year, things that might need to be carried forward. Then, each department reviewed a number of goals for next year and the commission sort of took a vote and prioritized those.”

He went on to say that the goals which commissioners and department heads talked about were generated by commissioners prior to the meeting.

“We asked the commission ahead of time, what are your goals for this year,” said Morse.

According to Morse, staff is now reviewing the feedback from commissioners at the retreat on Monday.

He said once they have reviewed all of that, they will compile the commissioners’ priorities in a set priority list for each department.

“Each department will have three main goals moving forward,” said Morse.

City commissioners also said Monday that they felt like the retreat went very well.
