Toccoa Commission Meets Today

Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to hold a first reading of an updated occupation tax ordinance at their meeting this morning.

The commission is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. today at Toccoa City Hall.

City staff have been working on updates to the ordinance for several months in an effort to find an appropriate way for the city to verify a business’s gross receipts, along with addressing other issues. Toccoa uses a business’s gross receipts as part of determining the occupation tax for a business for the next year.

Also on the agenda for today’s city commission meeting is a report from Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce President Wendi Bailey on tourism promotion.

The meeting also provides time for members of the public to make comments on general issues to the commission.
