Toccoa Commission Meeting Today

Toccoa City Commissioners have a busy day in store later today.

First, city commissioners will meet for a work session at 4 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

During the work session, the city commission is scheduled to continue discussions of the city’s LMIG roadway project.

LMIG stands for Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant and is state money that can be used for local street projects.

City commissioners first discussed this at a previous work session and tabled action on it during a meeting earlier this month.

This coming year, the city is receiving over $98,000 in LMIG funds from the state and City Manager Billy Morse said there are multiple options for the city to use that money.

Following the work session, the Toccoa City Commission is scheduled to consider action regarding LMIG at its regularly scheduled meeting that will start at 5 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

After city commissioners complete their regularly scheduled 5 p.m. meeting, they are scheduled to have another meeting at Toccoa City Hall to continue discussions of proposals for operations and maintenance of the city-owned Pines golf course.

The nine-hole course has been closed since late August when the former operator told the city he could no longer run the course.

Earlier this month, the city reported receiving two proposals regarding the golf course.

All of the meetings are open to the public.
