Toccoa City Commissioners will hold their final regularly scheduled meeting of 2012 today (Dec.17).

The city commission will meet at 9 a.m. today at Toccoa City Hall.

Commissioners moved their second monthly meeting up a week from its normal date due to the Christmas holiday.

During the meeting, city commissioners are expected to award bids for both the renovation of the engine room at the Doyle Street Fire Department and the SPLOST resurfacing program. Bids for those projects were opened at the commission’s meeting last Monday (Dec.10).

Commissioners are also scheduled to hold a second reading of the city’s occupation tax ordinance. An official first reading of the ordinance was held at the commission’s November 26 meeting.

In addition to that, the city commission will elect a mayor and vice-mayor for 2013, consider a number of appointments, and consider a new contract for auditing services with the city’s auditing firm, Mauldin and Jenkins.

Prior to their 9 a.m. meeting today, city commissioners will hold a work session starting at 8 a.m., also at Toccoa City Hall.

The commission has two items on the agenda for the work session, discussion of liquor licenses and discussion of the outside city water rate.

Both the work session and the meeting today are open to the public.
