Toccoa City Commissioners and staff will come together today to plan for the upcoming year.
City commissioners and department heads will gather today for a retreat at the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room, located in the historic train depot in downtown Toccoa.
Toccoa City Manager Mike Jackson said the retreat will start in the morning and is expected to last most of the day.
“We will go pretty much all day,” said Jackson. “It is pretty much a goal-setting retreat where we sit down with the department heads, the commission, and myself and we will talk about where we have been, where we are, and where we are going and articulate some specific goals for every department so that the department heads will have our marching orders in terms of what we want to pay particular attention to for the rest of this year.”
He said the retreat will be similar to the one the commission held last year.
That includes the facilitator brought in for the retreat. According to Jackson, Janice Saylors, a former colleague of his from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia, will facilitate the retreat. Jackson said Saylors did a great job last year and he is looking forward to having her facilitate this year’s retreat.
