Toccoa City Commission To Open 2015 Tonight

Toccoa City Commissioners will get their calendar year started at a meeting later today.

The city commission is scheduled to hold its first regular meeting of 2015 today at 5 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

During the meeting, the city commission is expected to take up consideration of a number of regular yearly appointments.

Among those, the city commission is expected to ratify the appointment of Terry Carter as Mayor for 2015 and Evan Hellenga as vice-mayor. Those appointments were made at the last city commission meeting in December.

Also, the city commission is expected to consider a number of other yearly appointments of commissioners to various boards on which the city is represented.

Meanwhile, the city commission is also expected to open bids for the Davidson Lake Dredging Project, consider the establishment of qualifying fees for the 2015 city commission election, consider a community service agency agreement and a jail inmate housing agreement, consider ratification of the acquisition of the Reflections property, and receive the monthly financial report.

Prior to the commission’s regular 5 p.m. meeting, the city commission is expected to hold a work session at 3 p.m. at Toccoa City Hall.

There are also a number of items on the agenda for today’s city commission work session.

They include a discussion of the Fiscal Year 2014 financial audit report, discussion of the Davidson Lake Dredging Project, discussion of golf course planning, discussion of Ward Creek Force Main project, and discussion of GEFA funding for utility projects.

Both the work session and the regular meeting are open to the public.
