Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to set the city’s millage rate at a meeting later today.
City commissioners will hold their first regularly scheduled meeting for August at 5 p.m. today at Toccoa City Hall.
The city commission has proposed keeping the millage rate at an even 6 mills in 2013, the same rate as last year.
In addition to approving the millage rate, Toccoa City Commissioners are also expected to consider extending an ordinance placing a moratorium on Internet Sweepstakes Cafes in the city limits.
City commissioners are expected to consider approval of two alcohol beverage control licenses as well.
Today’s Toccoa City Commission meeting also allows time for public comment.
Meanwhile, prior to the commission meeting at 5 p.m., Toccoa City Commissioners are scheduled to hold a work session.
During the work session, city commissioners are expected to hold discussion on the topic of incentives for new businesses and industries.
This is a topic that came up first during a joint meeting last month between city and county commissioners.
At that meeting, Stephens County Development Authority Executive Director Tim Martin asked both boards to think about and discuss the topic.
Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to start their work session at 4 p.m., also at Toccoa City Hall.
