Toccoa City Commissioners open a number of bids during their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday.

First, commissioners received two bids for the replacement of natural gas facilities for the Highway 17 widening project from Scott Road to Memorial Drive. This is the northern end of the project.

A bid from Harrison Gas Systems of Toccoa came in at just under $295,000, while another bid from Benton-Georgia, Inc. of Douglasville, Georgia, came in at just over $560,000.

Commissioners voted unanimously to remand the bids to staff to review and make a recommendation to the commission.

Last month, city commissioners awarded a bid to Harrison Gas Systems of Toccoa for just under $187,000 for the relocation of natural gas facilities for the southern end of the Highway 17 widening project between Scott Road and the Stephens-Franklin county line.

Meanwhile, city commissioners also received two bids for a pick-up truck for use by the crew working in the Toccoa City Cemetery.

The commission also voted to send those bids to staff for review and a recommendation.
