The topic of what to do with the Doyle Street Community Center is expected to come before Toccoa City Commissioners at a meeting later today.
Toccoa City Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. today in the city commission meeting room at Toccoa City Hall.
The Toccoa-Stephens County YMCA used to operate programs out of the Doyle Street Community Center as part of its agreement with the city of Toccoa.
However, the Y dissolved as an organization earlier this month, leaving the building without a tenant.
Today, Toccoa City Commissioners are expected to receive and consider a proposal from the Toccoa Little League to take over the facility.
The Toccoa Little League also has a lease on all other property and buildings at the Doyle Street Park area, except the pool, which was also formerly operated by the YMCA.
Other items on the Toccoa City Commission’s agenda include consideration of options for the Park Street Bridge in Toccoa, which was closed by the city at the request of DOT recently, and show cause hearings for two establishments charged with selling alcohol to a minor.
Meanwhile, city commissioners will also meet for a work session prior to today’s regularly scheduled meeting.
That work session will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will also take place in the city commission room at Toccoa City Hall.
Both the city commission meeting and the work session are open to the public.
