Preparations are underway for Christmas activities in Toccoa.
A number of events are scheduled for next weekend.
They start next Friday, November 30, with ChristmasFest in downtown Toccoa between 5 and 8 p.m.
Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said that this year, a Christmas Walk will take place involving three historic downtown churches.
“Our three downtown historic churches will be open and people can walk from one church to the next,” said Crosby. “There will be entertainment, performances by the different church groups. It is a very nice evening thing and then all of the different groups will come down at 8 p.m. at the lighting of the tree and we will sing together as a large choir.”
Another new event at ChristmasFest is a play called “The Trial of the Renegade Elf”, which will take place at 6 and 7 p.m. in the courtroom of the historic Stephens County Courthouse.
Meanwhile, the Festival of Trees will start on November 30 as well.
Crosby said that a gingerbread house contest will also take place next Friday and Saturday, November 30 and December 1.
“These will be displayed at 56 Doyle Street and the gingerbread houses will be on display and people can come and vote for their favorite,” said Crosby.
Activities continue on Saturday, December 1 in downtown Toccoa with a “Breakfast with Santa” event and a Christmas Sage Market.
