Saturday, residents gathered to greet the Amtrak Crescent train as it arrived in Toccoa for its morning stop as part of the festivities.
That wait took a little longer than normal Saturday as the Crescent was nearly two hours late, arriving just before 8 a.m. instead of at its normal arrival time of just after 6:15 a.m.
Once it did arrive, passengers getting off the train were greeted and representatives of the Toccoa Downtown Development Authority boarded the train and rode to Gainesville, passing out information about Toccoa to those heading south on the Crescent.
Later in the day on Saturday, people had the opportunity to view a train display in the Mitchell Allen Meeting Room.
Also, Toccoa held the monthly Sage Market in coordination with the Stephens County Farmers’ Market at a special location, the train depot parking lot in downtown, as part of Saturday’s activities.
