Toccoa 11-12 Softball Opens With Win

July 8, 2013

The Toccoa 11 and 12-year-old Little League Softball All-Stars are off to a winning start in district tournament play.

Toccoa defeated Hart County 19-1 in four innings Saturday in Clayton.

Toccoa scored nine runs in a first inning that was delayed due to rain, then continued the offensive onslaught after the rain delay to put Hart County away.

Natalie Morgan hit a three-run home run for Toccoa in the first inning and added an RBI double later on. Morgan also pitched the final two innings for Toccoa, allowing just one hit.

Toccoa’s starting pitcher, MacKenzie Rogers, threw two innings of no-hit ball, striking out four. Rogers also went 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs.

With the win, Toccoa moves into the winner’s bracket of the district tournament. Toccoa will next face either Habersham or Franklin tonight. Those two teams played Sunday, but we do not have a score yet.

AM 630 WNEG and will broadcast tonight’s Toccoa 11 and 12-year-old softball game from Clayton.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. with airtime set for 5:45 p.m.
