Toccoa 11-12 Baseball Wins District Title

The Toccoa 11 and 12-year-old Little League All-Star baseball team will head to states after capturing the district championship Thursday night with a 17-0, four-inning win over Hart County in Danielsville.

Toccoa scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Ben Hobbs led the charge, going 4 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs.

Daniel Brock went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, while Ty Kellar had two hits and two RBIs.

Toccoa starting pitcher Dawson Sorrells was outstanding as well, pitching a complete game one-hitter, striking out 11 Hart County batters, including the last nine he faced.

Sorrells also went 3 for 3 at the plate with two doubles and three runs scored.

The win puts Toccoa in the state tournament in Richmond Hill, Ga. beginning on July 20.
