Three Injured in Wed. Accident

Authorities said two people went to the hospital after an accident Wednesday evening in Stephens County.

The Toccoa post of the Georgia State Patrol said that the accident occurred at about 8:08 p.m. at the Jeanette Jamieson Intersection, which is the intersection of the by-pass and Georgia Highway 184.

According to the GSP report, a 2005 Kia Optima was traveling westbound on the by-pass in the right lane and entered into the intersection on a red light.

Meanwhile, the GSP said a 2009 Dodge Caravan was traveling southbound on Georgia Highway 184 and entered into the intersection on a green light.

The GSP said the front bumper of the Kia struck the left rear door of the Caravan.

Authorities said that both the driver of the Kia, identified as 55-year-old Rose Collins-Egan of Lavonia, and the driver of the Caravan, identified as 49-year-old Barbara Jester of Toccoa, were both injured and transported to Stephens County Hospital.

The GSP said a passenger in the Caravan, 14-year-old Alexis Jester of Toccoa, was also injured and transported to Stephens County Hospital.

Troopers said Collins-Egan was charged with Failure to Obey Traffic Control Devices.
