Three Area Churches Broken Into Last Week

Authorities in Stephens County are investigating three reported burglaries at local churches.

All three were reported last week.

According to reports on file, two of the reported burglaries occurred in the Rothell Road area and the third occurred on Collier Road.

In one of the church burglaries that was reported on May 29, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office reported that Faith Memorial Assembly of God was broken into and damage was caused to a safe in the church office. Meanwhile that same day, Toccoa Police responded to St. Mary’s Catholic Church where the report stated that forced entry was found into the church annex and damage was done. The report did not state whether anything was taken.

Then the next day on May 30, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office responded to Glad Tidings Church where the report stated $1,100 in cash and $400 in other items were stolen.

According to reports, all three burglaries reportedly occurred during a period of May 24 to May 29.
