TFC Women’s Soccer Prepares for Postseason Play

The regular season is over for the Toccoa Falls College women’s soccer team.

TFC hosted the Laurel University Lions in its final home game of the season on Saturday.

The seniors and the rest of the Screaming Eagles finished the regular season on a high note, defeating Laurel 4-1 on Senior Day.

Junior Lizz Rice opened the scoring just three minutes before the halftime intermission, and consecutive goals from freshman Olivia Stands in the 48th and 59th minutes put Toccoa ahead 3-0.

The visiting Lions scored their lone goal with 12 minutes remaining in the match, but Rice’s second goal of the game in the 85th minute brought the match to the final 4-1 score line.

Toccoa Falls finishes the women’s soccer season with a record of 8-8-1 and will travel to Clearwater, Florida, on Friday for the south region tournament.

As the third seed, TFC will face Clearwater Christian College, the tournament’s second seed on Friday night.

The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the national tournament, while the runners-up will hope to receive an at-large bid to the tournament.
