TFC Sports Update

The Toccoa Falls College men’s soccer team will return home for two matches this week after splitting a pair of games in Florida over the weekend.

Friday, the Screaming Eagles lost 3-2 in double overtime at Clearwater Christian College.

Nathan Dority and Stephen Lee scored second half goals to help TFC come back from an early 2-0 deficit before Clearwater scored the game winner in the second overtime period.

Saturday, TFC rebounded to shut out Johnson University of Florida 5-0 for its first region win of the season.

Lee scored twice for the Screaming Eagles, as did Elijah Smith. Dority also added a goal, while Seth Van Horn earned the shutout for Toccoa Falls in goal in his first collegiate start.

Toccoa Falls will host Southern Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. Wednesday, then host Clearwater on Friday at 7 p.m.

Friday’s match will in correlation with TFC’s Homecoming weekend and the Homecoming Queen will be crowned during a halftime ceremony.

In other sports news from Toccoa Falls College, the women’s volleyball team lost to LaGrange College on September 30 in a non-conference match in three sets.

Kaitlin Weidner had 7 kills to lead TFC, while Rachel Morris had 21 digs and Sarah Schaeffer tallied 14 assists.

The TFC volleyball team hosts Truett-McConnell College tonight at 7 p.m.
