TFC Sports Update

Another successful week for TFC athletics is in the books as the Screaming Eagles continued its fall seasons in cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball.

Cross Country raced at Southern Wesleyan University on September 26 and moved closer to qualifying for Nationals with an impressive showing.

Jamie Smith led the women’s squad and finished 11th in region and 15th overall, while Mackenzie Murley qualified as an individual for Nationals with a time that was good enough for 21st overall.

The Screaming Eagles team time left them just shy of the team qualifying time needed for Nationals.

The women’s team will look to improve on their times this Saturday, October 3rd against Piedmont College, hosted by Tallulah Falls School.

On the men’s side, Tim Sestak placed 28th overall for TFC.

The men will also race at Tallulah Falls on October 3.

Moving to soccer, after defeating Johnson University of Florida, 4-2, on September 18, the men’s soccer team limped to a 5-0defeat to Columbia International University on September 26.

The men’s lone game of the upcoming week will be played at home Friday at 5 p.m.

Elsewhere, the TFC volleyball team split its four matches over the week with wins over Allen University and region foe Piedmont International University.

Toccoa Falls’ season record sits at 7-8 following losses to Agnes Scott College and Trinity College of Florida.

TFC volleyball traveled to Crown College on Tuesday and will host Hiwassee College tonight at 6 p.m.

The highlight of week for TFC athletics was the women’s soccer 1-0 victory over region foe Bob Jones University.

Toccoa Falls entered the match as the nation’s third-ranked team while Bob Jones held down the number two ranking.

Nicole Cooprider scored the match’s lone goal in the 27th minute of action and Toccoa Falls’ defense held firm and hung on for the win.

Toccoa Falls also topped LaGrange College on September 23, 2-1.

On Saturday, October 3, Bob Jones will get a chance to exact revenge on the 5-5 TFC women’s soccer team as the Screaming Eagles make the return trip to Greenville, South Carolina, for a 4:00 match.
