TFC, Cherokee Christian Reach Dual Enrollment Agreement

toccoa-ccs-1[2]Toccoa Falls College reaches a dual enrollment agreement with a north Georgia Christian school.

This week, TFC and Cherokee Christian School in Woodstock, Georgia signed a Memorandum of Agreement for dual-enrolled courses between their institutions.

Under the agreement, certain high school courses at Cherokee Christian School that demonstrate the strategic rigor to count for college courses of the same topic will now allow students at Cherokee Christian to receive both high school and college credit in one class.

Also, select Cherokee Christian faculty members teaching those courses will be approved as adjunct faculty at Toccoa Falls College and the students are both TFC and Cherokee Christian students at the same time.

The agreement also allows the college credit to be transferable to any other college or university that regularly honors transfer credits from a national, private, or liberal arts college as part of the State of Georgia’s Move on When Ready program.

This Fall semester, courses in Chemistry, Physics, History, Math, and Composition have already been approved, with more courses being prepared for dual enrollment.

Both institutions are accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Officials for both schools said the result is that these local, college-preparatory high school students are even more prepared for college.

Toccoa Falls College Provost Brian Shelton said that the college is thrilled to partnering with such a reputable institution with academic and mission values like TFC’s.

Shelton added that the commitment of Cherokee Christian to both Humanities and STEM courses in its curriculum makes this partnership even more ideal.
