TFC Breaks Ground on New Nursing School Building

fettermanToccoa Falls College breaks ground on its new nursing school.

Local officials, campus community members, donors, healthcare administrators, and others gathered last Thursday to break ground on the building for the Fetterman School of Nursing.

According to TFC, the new state-of-the-art academic facility will house simulation labs, mock hospital rooms, classrooms, and administrative offices to prepare students to serve in local and global communities and focus on the well-being of people through practical real-life experiences.

School officials said this is the culmination of a 52-year dream.

In 1964, the trustee board of Toccoa Falls College presented a 28-acre site to the Stephens County Hospital Authority and in dialogue between the college and hospital administrators, a future Nursing school would utilize the hospital as a training ground for TFC nursing students.

Toccoa Falls College President Dr. Robert Myers said the TFC community is excited about the new nursing school and the facility that will house it.

Myers said it will serve as a launching pad to train nursing students to serve others and impact the world with tremendous health care, as well as the love and message of Christ.

Construction on the Fetterman School of Nursing is set to begin next month and TFC said the first class of students will enroll in Fall 2017.
