It has already been a deadly weekend on Georgia highways.
The Georgia Department of Public Safety is reporting that as of this morning, 10 people have died on Georgia highways this Memorial Day holiday travel weekend.
The Memorial Day travel weekend began at 6 p.m. Friday and continues through midnight tonight.
The Department of Public Safety reported that there has been one traffic related death in northeast Georgia.
That took place in the Blue Ridge post of the Georgia State Patrol.
Meanwhile, the Georgia Department of Transportation has suspended construction-related lane closures on Georgia interstates and major state highways through 5 a.m. Tuesday.
The DOT said Memorial Day is one of the highest volume weekends for vehicular traffic and reminds motorists to slow down on the highways and pay attention.
