The city of Toccoa is also preparing to begin that utility relocation.
Monday, the city commission unanimously voted to award a bid to replace natural gas facilities from Scott Road to Memorial Drive to Harrison Gas Systems of Toccoa at a cost of $294,890.20. That was the low bid of two bids submitted for the project.
City commissioners also voted unanimously to award a bid for an industrial riding mower to Swinehart’s Power Equipment of Baldwin at a cost of $9,593. It was the low bid of three bids submitted for the mower.
Meanwhile, commissioners also opened voted to remand two bids to staff for review regarding the re-roofing of the city’s downtown passageway Monday.
In other action from Monday’s city commission meeting, commissioners voted to name Mayor David Austin as an alternate voting delegate to next month’s Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia Annual Membership Meeting. Toccoa officials say that the city’s primary delegate, Utilities Director Harry Scott, is being considered for a position on the MGAG Board of Directors.
Finally, the city commission moved its meeting dates for next month to Monday, May 6 and Monday, May 20 to avoid any conflict with the Memorial Day holiday.
