Toccoa City Commissioners accept a bid for more work involving the Schaefer Center in downtown Toccoa.
Tuesday, city commissioners unanimously approved a bid for a preservation plan, design plan, and economic study of the Schaefer Center from Historical Integrity, LLC in the amount of $6,000.
The bid from Historical Integrity was the lowest of two bids that were opened at the Toccoa City Commission meeting on January 14.
The city of Toccoa has received a grant from the Fox Theatre Institute to help pay for the study.
Toccoa has been working to renovate the Schaefer Center, located at the corner of Broad and Doyle streets in downtown Toccoa. Work already done on the building includes a new HVAC unit, new orchestra pit, new carpeting, new paint, and a renovated front lobby area.
Also on Tuesday, city commissioners unanimously approved a quote from Graves Water Services, Inc. of Jackson, South Carolina to repair a raw water pump at the Davidson Creek Raw Water Pumping Facilities.
Graves’ bid was for $5,200 to remove, transport, and inspect the pump, as well as make some repairs. The bid stated that a full overhaul of the pump would cost an additional $4,800 to $8,800.
The bid from Graves was the lowest of three received for the work.
