Summer activities continue in downtown Toccoa.
Main Street Toccoa has offered both a “Summer Movie Series” on Thursday nights at the Schaefer Center and the “Ida Cox Music Series” on Saturday nights on Doyle Street in downtown Toccoa through the months of June and July.
On the movies, Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby said they have had great turnout through the summer.
“We have been very pleased,” said Crosby. “The first movie was sold out and we had to turn many away.”
Because that movie the first week, “Frozen,” was so popular, Crosby said they are actually extending the movie series by one week to show “Frozen” again for those who could not make it the first time.
That will be on August 7.
“We are excited it worked out that we could do that,” said Crosby.
Admission to all of the Thursday night movies is $1 and concessions are also $1. The movies start at 7 p.m. each Thursday night.
Meanwhile, Crosby said that Main Street has also been pleased with the turnout for the shows in this year’s “Ida Cox Music Series.”
In fact, Crosby said that they are adding weeks to the music series thanks to a grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts.
“We are going to have two extra events, one on August 2 and one on August 9,” said Crosby.
“Ida Cox Music Series” concerts are free to attend and run from 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday nights.
