Stephens Schools Filling Final Positions Prior to Start of School Year

With a new school year starting next week in Stephens County, the school system is working to fill some certified positions that remain open.

Stephens County School Superintendent Bryan Dorsey updated the Board of Education on that process at its called meeting on Monday.

Dorsey said that the school system still has three certified positions that it is looking to fill for the upcoming year.

“We have a special ed at Liberty because of a re-assignment, we have a special ed-social studies at the high school, and we have a language arts at the middle school,” said Dorsey.

Dorsey went on to say that the school system is working to fill each of those positions before the new school year begins or as soon as possible.

“We certainly hope to,” said Dorsey. “We have some interviews set up. One of those was a re-assignment, one was an unexpected resignation of a teacher, and one is one they have been working on filling.”

He said there is no set date for these positions to be filled and approved by the school board.

There is one more Stephens County Board of Education meeting before the start of school.

The school board will hold a work session and called meeting on August 13.
