Stephens Scholars Reception Held

stephens scholarsThe Toccoa-Stephens County Chamber of Commerce honors top students in the Stephens County School System.

On Tuesday, the Chamber’s Education Committee held the annual Stephens Scholars Achievement Awards Reception at Stephens County High School.

Each year, the banquet recognizes some of the top academic achievements in the school system.

This year, outstanding scores on both the SAT and ACT were recognized, as were state winners for HOSA and SkillsUSA.

Officials also recognized this year’s STAR Student and STAR Teacher in Stephens County.

Chamber Education Committee Chair Greg Pitts said this is an event that they look forward to every year.

“This is one of the things I look forward to every year, honoring the young people, the best of the best of the senior class at Stephens County High School,” said Pitts. “They work hard. They do a wonderful job. It is just a privilege for me to be able to come out there and associate with them and hang out with them for a while. Our Education Committee has some great folks on there and with Julie Paysen as the Chamber President supporting us, we just feel real privileged to be able to do this every year.”

Again this year, the Toccoa Clinic served as the Corporate Sponsor for the reception.
