Stephens County Rabies Clinic Is Saturday

The annual Stephens County Rabies Clinic will be held tomorrow at various locations.  Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter Director Jeff Roberts says “with the recent occurrence of a rabies positive dog in the county, it kind of brings it to the forefront and people can realize that it’s one of the least expensive things you can do for your animal and give them protection.”

Roberts says that “unfortunately several dogs had to be euthanized recently in the county because of this issue.”

Roberts points out that it is not just our pets at risk; people can be easily exposed; according to Roberts, “if you don’t know if the animal’s had a rabies vaccination, then you have to go through an expensive and painful series of shots.”

The Rabies Clinic stops will cover the county making it convenient to get your animal vaccinated. The cost is just $7 per animal.

You will find a list of clinic locations and times on the WNEG website under the community calendar link.  You may also call the Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter at 706-282-3275.

Both ToccoaVeterinaryHospital and Currahee Veterinary Clinic will participate in the Rabies Clinic. In addition to this schedule, Currahee Veterinary Clinic will also hold a second Rabies Clinic on Saturday, May 16.
