Commissioners sign off on a new body art code and regulations ordinance for Stephens County.
The Stephens County Commission unanimously approved the ordinance Tuesday following a second reading and public hearing.
Stephens County Commission Chairman Stanley London said the ordinance will just allow the county to enforce rules already implemented by the Health Department for body art establishments. He explained that it will just provide another layer of enforcement.
According to London, those new rules include not only permitting and inspection fees approved recently by the county, but rules covering areas like record-keeping and a facility’s conditions.
The chairman added that the existing body art establishments helped with getting the new rules in place.
Nobody spoke on a public hearing on the ordinance prior to the second reading and vote by the commission Tuesday.
Prior to that, the commission had held a first reading and public hearing on the ordinance on March 12. Nobody spoke during that public hearing either.
