Stephens Co. Unemployment Figures Out for February

Unemployment figures for the month of February show very little change in Stephens County from January.

According to figures released this week by the Georgia Department of Labor, Stephens County had a preliminary unemployment rate in February of 7.1 percent.

That is slightly up from January’s revised rate of 7.0 percent, but down from the February 2014 revised rate of 8.1 percent.

Stephens County had a total labor force of 11,123 in February. That is slightly up from 11,058 in January, but slightly down from the labor force in February 2014, which was 11,230.

In February, 10,331 people in Stephens County are employed. That is up slightly from January’s figure of 10,282, and a little up from last February’s figure of 10,318.

Other neighboring counties also saw their unemployment rates drop in the month of February.

Looking at other area counties, Habersham County’s preliminary unemployment rate in February went down one-tenth of a percentage point to 6.3 percent, Banks County’s preliminary February unemployment rate went down one-tenth of a percentage point to 6 percent, and Franklin County’s preliminary February unemployment rate went down two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.9 percent.
